Porn....Roving Porn that is!

Sorry about the wait. But I got in full "OMG Yule/Christmas is only a handful of days away! I have to get to knitting!" mode. I still have 4 hats that needs to be knit. One will take me a few days to do. One needs to be done in 2 days and the other 2 needs to be done by the 23rd. I am not a fast knitter. I am lucky to get one hat a day made. lol
It also doesn't help when you have already knit TONS of hats in the last few months and most are from the same pattern. UGH lol

So I promised you some Roving Porn! I am still waiting on some more to get to me but this is what I have for right now. All the roving shown today is from TimetoKnit over at Etsy. I have not used any of the roving yet as I still have all 4 bobbins tied up at the moment. But I do plan getting to them soon!! Everything is Merino Top.

3 1/2 ounces
4 ounces

3 5/8 ounces
TimetoKnit I hope you don't mind but I took the photos from your etsy shop. They are MUCH better than mine are. lol

As you can see I got me some wonderful colors! My nana decided to buy me some roving for Yule. I was over at her house working on my cousins computer when she said "get you something for Yule." So I rushed to Etsy and got these! I am sooo excited. Thanks for such great deals and for GREAT colors! One thing tho....name them! lol I think the Pink and Black should be something like Punk Pig or something like that! lol

Well I guess I need to get something to eat then get back to my knitting. As soon as my roving from Betzi comes in I will be sure to share that to! She is a good friend of mine and she helped me out with some colors that I wanted to put together! I am VERY excited!

Thanks for stoping by my blog! Have a wonderful day and don't forget to leave a comment!

P.S.
Since KnitWitch posted animals I will post THE only picture that I have gotten of wildlife here.

Some kind of wild turkey?

I have been taged for the very first time!

Thanks to KnitFiber over at http://www.knitfiber.blogspot.com/ I have been tagged to do a Meme. Here are my rules:

1. Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them.
5. Let each person know they've been tagged and leave a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

Here is my answers for this even tho I will not have anyone to tag at the end.

1. I am a BIG animal lover! I would own one of everything if I could. Well I wouldn't own snakes, rats, spiders and the like. But everything else I would! Today I was at PetLand and the guy had one of those poodle crossed puppies. I wanted it so bad. The hubby asked how much (even tho we can have anything out of a cage and we cant afford another mouth). The guy went to look and came back with $550. OMG humm If I could have it I wouldn't spend THAT on one! I can save alot of animals lifes in pounds for that!

2. I would love to be a professional singer. All my life I have loved singing. I was in chorus from 4th grade to 9th grade. I loved it and I could hit this highest notes in every grade than everyone else. Mariah Carey notes!! But I do not have the funds or know the right people for that kind of life. :(

3. I was a spoint child/teen. I didn't do ANY chores when I lived at home till I got married at the age of 18. When I got married we lived with my mom for about 2 months. Then we moved out of state. I had no clue about cleaning routens (my mom cleaned my room) or even how to wash cloths. I made a long distance call every week to ask my nana how to wash cloths. It was sad. I was also never taught how to cook. PLEASE teach you kids these things early. It will help them alot in life even if they think it wont!!

4. I like watching Star Trek in the middle of the night when the hubby is at work. I don't watch it often but I do like it! Don't tell the hubby! I make fun of him for watching it. lol

5. I have 3 Star Bucks in my town and I just went to one for the first time today! I had a Peppermint Hot Chocolate. It wasn't great. My hubby had the plain Hot Chocolate. I tasted his to see if it was the Hot Chocolate that I didn't like or the Peppermint part. It's the Hot Chocolate. It has a wang to it. Maybe its to watered down or something?

6. I have a fear of failure. Not in school. But now. I want to start saleing my goods on Art Fire but I am afraid of using my $7 to list items and then have them not sale. I know I can list items for nothing and not be out anything. But really whats the point of listing 4 (or is it a few more) items? Thats not enough to get you out there!! I do not want to list my goods and then have no one buy them. I will feel as tho I am a bad crafter or something. I need some people to talk to about this!

I don't know anyone well enough to tag them. So I will just list a few of the blogs that I read here. :) You can check them out if you like!

http://knitwitchblog.blogspot.com/

Everyone reads Yarn Harlot and Crazy Aunt Purl right? Well if not READ THEM NOW! lol

Thanks for the tag and thanks for reading! I will get back to normal posting tomorrow. I have fiber PORN!

My Yule tree in action!

Spinning and Trees

As promised yesterday I am now posting about my spinning.

I only have the Kiwi wheel and I love it! I do everything with it. (everything that I know how to do that is) I have spun 8 skeins on it and don't see the need for any upgrades or anything. Well maybe I would like to have a jumbo flier for it if I ever start getting be things of roving. Well I guess 4 ounces of roving would be good for the jumbo flier because right now I have to use 2 regular bobbins to spin it all onto. Oh well...you get my point. ;)

I have only spun with Merino and Corriedale so far. (I have some mystery stuff but I don't know what it is...feels like a rough wool) I do have an ounce each of some BFL and some silky bamboo..but I am scared to spin it up. I do not want to mess it up! lol But I hope to take the plunge into it soon. It feels so wonderful!

Right now on my wheel I am spinning some Corriedale that I purchased from betziboo ont Etsy. She has been a wondeful friend to me over on Ravelry also! (Hi Betzi!) I have already filled up on bobbin and have over half of another one filled with it. The colors are wonderful! This is the first time I have ever spun up 4 ounces of one roving. I used to buy only 1 or 2 ounces of something until I measured it and discovered that I wasn't getting enought to even knit a hat with! ugh So I have started buying larger. ;)

Here is the picture of the first bobbin with the roving.

Isn't it yummy! The color's are lighter in person but even in this picture it looks wonderful! The bobbin might look like its not full but the small end on the right is about to run over with fiber. Yeah I could of filled it up more on the big end but I didn't want to over do it and I knew I still had to use another bobbin for the red of that fiber so I just stopped.

As soon as I get this second bobbin spun up and then get the twists sat on each skein I will show you what the finnished yarn looks like. OH and I am going to play the two bobbins together I think. I tend to work with yarns that are closer to worsted than anything else. ;)

On another note I told you all that I would share pictures of my Yule tree. I have taken it down but I did get pictures before hand.

The tree is just 3 feet tall and is a fiberoptic one that I got for crazy cheap last year after Yule. ;) I never did get all the balls on the tree. I ran out of those hanger things. lol

I have a short video of the tree in action that I will post in a second post. So look for it right after this one!

Well that is all for me today. Remember to be happy for what you do have and happy for what you don't have!! Things could be VERY different!! Happy Holidays!

BOOM

Well I was going to post yesterday about some spinning that I did. But my car decided it wanted to be my blog star!

What happened? Well let me start at the front.

About 3 1/2 weeks ago me and the hubby started smelling something stinky while riding around in the car. We figured maybe we was behind someone who's car stunk. We didn't smell it everytime all the time. So it didn't click.

We kept driving the car.

About a week into this I tell my papa about it and he says maybe its low on Oil or it has a hole in the muffler. OK so lets do the oil. We go to town one day to get my medication and decided to stop by the Dollar General store to pick up 2 quartz of oil. We start to get in the car and I tell hubby we might as well put the oil in now. So we got back out and the hubby lifted the hood. SWOOSH The smell of gas slapped us. We looked around and I see a puddle of liquid around the middle thing in the car. (I have no idea what you call it but its where the Spark Plugs plug in) My hubby got some napkins from the car and soaked some up to give it a sniff. Sure enough it was GAS! (get ready to gasp) The hubby cranks the car while I hold the hood up to see if there is a leak somewhere.
Sure enough there is a leak at the top right part of that piece where the gas was puddled up. So we soaked up the gas, forgot about the oil and went towards home.

On the way we stopped at this mechanic's place to ask them how much to fix it. They was to busy to look at it so they said to come back in 2 hours. So we went on home. 2 hours later I drove the car up there. They looked at it and gave me a price. $85 that's for part and labor. Well I didn't have that so I went to my grandparents house. I showed my papa and he said to park it and borrow there car. He would get the part and do it him self.

Well Papa ordered the part.....4 times (which took a week). Each time the part would not fit. So we kept on driving his car. Finally a parts place said he would have to get that gas thing from the Dodge company. So he ordered that for $77. When my papa got the part yesterday he put it on the car and it fit! Yeah! About time. lol

Well Papa decided he would clean out our car before calling me/us to come get it. So he cranked up the car...moved it about 5 inches and BOOM! It blowed up with him IN IT! OMG My aunt and cousin, who lives next door, and my nana heard this and ran outside. They saw the car in flames and my papa just opening the door to get out of the car. They rushed to get water hoses to put it out before it could get the whole car and make it to the gas tank. The grass and a little of the tree that it was sitting under was on fire to.

My papa has Parkasions Disease. Not to the point that he can't do things or drive. But he is slower to respond and shakes. So when the car blowed up he pannicked and almost didn't get out. But once he did he started having chest pains. He is fine. It was just a panic attack.

No fire department was called since they got it out. No need when theres nothing for them to do. ;)

Everyone is saying if the car hadn't of blowed up my papa would of called me to come get the car. Then I would of been in it when it blowed up. More than likley I would of been in the passenger seat and the hubby would be driving. Which means I would of been enuglfed in flames. Because the explosion was on the passenger side and thats where the flames was. Everyone involved and almost involved was lucky!

Dear Goddess! Bless you for sparing my life,my papa's life and everyone elses! Thank you!

So with out further adue here is the pictures of said car. :(

As you can see under the hood parts of it blew a part. WOW I didn't know the antifreeze container looked like that on the inside! lol

So now we set without a car. Papa had to have his car back. They have to take great grand kids to school and from school every day. The hubby has a ride linned up for the week to get to and from work and I can go with my nana to the Walmart for grub. But some how, some way we have to get a car. :(

I hope your week goes better than how mine started! I am going to go spin now. I promise I will post my Yule tree and my spinning tomorrow! My car just demaneded to be my star today. ;)

Twilight and First dates....

Oh MY! Have you been bitten by the Twilight Vampires? I have! I have read all the books but the last 4 chapters of the 4th book. I am in LOVE!

I wanted to go see the movie the day it came out but I didn't have the funds. So I just forgot about it and went about my days.
But then this morning around 10:30am my Nana called me saying that my 12 year old cousin wanted to go watch it with her friend. But she was afraid that the movie was a true Vampire movie that would scare my cousin silly. After telling her about the movie/book she was ok with it. I told her I never got to go watch it. She said if I would drive them to the movies she would pay my way in. (My nana trusts me with my cousin more than anyone.) So I said sure! Whats the harm in that. It will be me and a 12 year old and a 13 year old. No big deal.

Well I went to get ready and my nana called me back. She had found out that the girls was going to meet there boyfriends there. (Maybe that should be wrote Boy Friend. Not boyfriend. As they don't kiss, hold hands or anything else....anyways....) I told nana that I would sit right behind them and nothing would happen. So she chilled and all was well.

I got to my nana's to pick up the girls and my nana hands me her car keys! OMG No one ever gets to drive her car. I was sooo excited. (sorry for the OMG but I love her car!) After the girls primped we was off to the movies. I kind of teased the girls on the way there by asking there boy friends names. (Matthew and Brandon) Then I would ask them who is going to try and hold hands. They blushed 20 shades of red! LOL It was way funny. But they are cool with me. They know I will not say anything to them or anyone else unless things went to far. But Holding hands and hugging is ok. Anything else and we would leave and Grandparents would be told! (My cousin and her friend both live/are being raised by there grandparents.)

Well all in all things went great. My cousin got a hug for about .2 seconds lol and her friend held hands. It was all very sweet and funny. Funny because they was shy and bashful...all 4 of them! lol I think they all had a good time. The girls was wispering in the back seat the whole way home. I heard every word of it ofcourse. I might be getting gray at 28 but my hearring is still good! ;)

Oh about the movie...(sorry I got wraped p in the first date ordeal! lol) The movie was wonderful! I cryed thru almost the whole thing. But I have to say that the only one who really looked like a Vampire to me was James. (Man is he hot or what??? To bad they tore him to peices and burnt him. *sigh*) Thre was also differences in the movie from the book. Most of the time I nevr notice this. But these stood out like bad.
There was one added part,i don't remember it from the book, about why she moved to Fork. It was nice. Over all I HAVE to OWN the movie when it comes out!! It rocked that much! If you haven't seen it go watch it. If you can't afford to go watch it at http://www.watch-movies.net/movies/twilight/ for free.....you didn't hear it from me. *winkwink* lol

Have a great day and remember to pack your pepper spray! ;)

If you read this don't forget that comments make me want to post more. So POST already! ;)

Spinning

This past Thursday I did me some spinning. I have an Ashford Kiwi! It is a wonderful wheel. Even tho I have never taken a class and I have only seen someone spin 2 times in my whole life but I am spinning real yarn! It surprises me every time I spin. I will post my finished yarn as soon as it is finished!

Here is some yarn that I have spun in the past.

(Drop spindled yarn) This was undyed Merino that I dyed in the microwave with orange kool-aid. The yarn has cork screws in it but it was my very first. I have not knit with it yet. I think I am going to save it for ever as a reminder of how I got started! I think this came out to 17 yards.
This is some hand dyed roving that a friend from Ravelry sent me. It was wonderful stuff. It is a single ply yarn. The white spots in the yarn is where the color didn't soak all the way through the roving. I love its look! I haven't knit with it yet either. lol This came out to 62 yards. It was 1 ounce of roving.

Now this is my first and only time so far at plying. I spun up some undyed Merino and some Black Merino then played the 2 together. I love the look of it. I almost dyed the white red and then plyed it with the black. But I didn't want to wait for all of that. So I just went for it. lol I have to say that I think it looks wonderful. Once again I have not knit anything with it. I think this is around 60-70 yards.
***
In life news....I think I am starting to lose it. For the last 5 days I have been meaning to buy some dish washing liquid. But everytime I go to town I forget it. Then when I get home I remember it. UGH I hate doing this! I am now 100% out of it and will have to make a special trip tomorrow just for dish washing liquid. I really need to put a list on the fridge and write things down everytime I think about needing something. But I am not that orderly. lol Any hints out there for keeping things straight? I need it!

I have my Yule tree up! It looks so pretty! It is a 3 feet tall fiber optic tree. I have some silver garland on it,purple glass balls (shinny ones and frosted ones),holographic purple icecicles and a red bow for the top of the tree. I will post a good picture of it soon. The one I took tonight didn't come out so great. lol

Well thanks for reading my second post on my blog. I hope to keep this up. So please drop me a comment and let me know your still reading! :) Have a wonderful day/night!
